Most of the big firms Oracle, MICrosoft, Lehman etc..all the big ones are full of H1B people.
These firms literally depend on itellectual labour from across the world for their revenues.
If you might notice that all these Senators who are coming up with these brilliant ideas are either from some god forsaken place in the US where there is nothing except a WalMart and a Church or the Senator doesnt know his economics right and is using VOTE BANK POLITICS parallel that to the recent Mayawati being elected in UP & AB & AMbani getting hit in scams and SEZs.
But the BIG BULLS in CA & NY wont let these senators have it their way as they would loose their $$..so let them speak their heart out ..when it comes to money these senators will loose their deposits ...& REMEMBER THE WORLD IS FLAT. ANY MOVE WILL CREATE A BACK LASH AND IF PEOPLE STOP BOARDING THOSE PLANES FROM INDIA TO US where would BOEING SELL those PLANES ;-) ...

one of the reasons we have not succeeded is precisely because folks want to use their own "intellect" and not do what "IV" needs when it really needs you.
we do all of the above and more. if you like something more than the other that's perfectly fine and dandy. but if we can't collect a critical mass for an action, we lose effectiveness and shoot ourselves in the foot.
in a group this large you simply have to help the commom action and agenda for success. each opinion is important but at the end of the day the common action must be done by all, as far as possible.
paskal - i actually agree with your basic premise.....once the larger body agrees on a basic vision and strategic plan - the tactical manuevers to achieve the vision in line with strategy should be left to leaders.......
but this principle generally works in two scenarios - either when the leader (or lead group) is appointed by a higher authority (like employees following the lead of a CEO appointed by board of directors which in turn has been "elected" by shareholders) or when the leader has been directly or indirectly elected by the constituents.......
Let me give an example.......an entrepreneur starts a company with a great idea.....grows it and nurtures it with great love and passion......dedicates his whole life to the idea and the venture.......then the entrepreneur needs a larger canvas and more money to grow the vision further.......he takes the company public or gets private equity funding or raises debt........now the new owners/ stakeholders decide they need to change the management and decide to elect a person of their own choice........suddenly a rank outsider replaces the entrepreneur as CEO........the new CEO now has the legitimacy and owners' backing to dictate how the company should function.....
I welcome red dots but take a moment to absorb what I am saying and whether the principle is wrong......

Another Iowan from Cedar Falls wrote in support of our review of the H-1B program. He is a computer programmer with a master's degree and over 20 years of work experience in that field. He says: Despite all of my qualifications, in the last four years I have applied to over 3,700 positions and have received no job offers. He believes he is in constant competition with H-1B visa holders.
The unemployment rate is 1.8% which is much lower then unemployable rate. Some persons are unemployable. That is, they will not get a job even if H-1B quota is set to 0.
The ONLY way for such persons to get job is with the legilative fix: every American is entitled to a job!

See the following link for explanation:
http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_4252.html
Excerpt from above link
EMPLOYMENT-BASED PREFERENCES
First: Priority Workers: 28.6% of the worldwide employment-based preference level, plus any numbers not required for fourth and fifth preferences.
Second: Members of the Professions Holding Advanced Degrees or Persons of Exceptional Ability: 28.6% of the worldwide employment-based preference level, plus any numbers not required by first preference.
Third: Skilled Workers, Professionals, and Other Workers: 28.6% of the worldwide level, plus any numbers not required by first and second preferences, not more than 10,000 of which to "Other Workers".
Fourth: Certain Special Immigrants: 7.1% of the worldwide level.
Fifth: Employment Creation: 7.1% of the worldwide level, not less than 3,000 of which reserved for investors in a targeted rural or high-unemployment area, and 3,000 set aside for investors in regional centers by Sec. 610 of P.L. 102-395.
Exactly, everywhere the language is similar.
If EB3 were to get only the leftover numbers after EB2 is finished, the statement would read "...not required by second preference", because the statement in EB2's paragraph "not required by first preference" would add to Eb2 numbers (and may no longer be differentiated as EB1 rollover numbers). So a statement in EB3 along the lines of "not required by second preference" will clearly say that rollover from EB1 is to EB2 only. And any further rollover from EB2 will be considered depending on the demand for EB2.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$GOOD EVENING GC$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Deadline = April 30th, 2011
Goal = 5000 votes on survey (see I-485 filing w/o current PD thread) and momentum to continue with this campaign.The survey is a platform to gather and push for launching action items. Based on response by 04/30/2011 - IV will decide whether to even proceed with initiative or not.
Actions - 1) Vote on survey.
2)Email ivcoordinator@gmail.com with PD, ph#,email & subject "I485 filing impacted,
3)Print/Circulate Fliers and spread FB, wiki link (see "support thread")
Dear IV Members,
If you believe that your success depends on your immigration process - whether it's the ability to file I-485 earlier or to get green-card and citizenship sooner or whether it's the ability of your spouse to work - then you have to believe that your success somehow depends on the success of Immigration voice and these 170 volunteers in DC next week.
As you may know, we are just one more week away from hosting Advocacy day in Washington DC where about 170 members of Immigration Voice will conduct nearly 250 meetings with offices of Senators and Congressmen. Such events cost money. If we have enough contributions, we can spend as per our budget of nearly $ 50,000. If not, we will have to cut back on the event spending and reduce the magnitude and size of the event.
If you are not coming to DC next week, please do your part and contribute funds to Immigration Voice. It not only finances the event properly, it instills pride and confidence in the members who will be there in DC that there are thousands of willing supporters behind them who could not be there physically but are 100% with them in their determination and resolve.
For background click here -> Announcement about April 2011 Advocacy Days (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/forum85-action-items-for-everyone/1901186-action-item-advocacy-days-in-washington-dc-in-april-2011-a.html#post2301599)
Contribute to Advocacy Event on the Capitol Hill (http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=26&Itemid=44#onetimepaypal) (All one-time contributions will go towards organizing the Advocacy Days event)

Immigration Voice have shown to the immigration community what they can do. Let's look at what Immigration Voice have done so far.
1. Hiring Strategic counsel (One of the top notch companies in DC.)
2. Spending money wisely so that all the members have the best ROI.
3. Convincing senators to bring amendments to the SJC immigration reform bill.
4. Membership going up consistently.
5. Endorsement from successful Immigration lawyers in US.
6. Media coverage (Roll call article, NBC interview)
7. Thorough analysis of immigration related bills, laws and provisions.
8. Immigration Voice members trust.
I don't think there is any thing left. What else do we want. Contributing $200 or more is nothing if you compare the pain that you take while waiting for the GC. Ask yourself what is important. The pain or contributing $200 or more to Immigration Voice.

I think you missed my point...we need more members because you can't get any one's time if you just want them to do something for you. You have to be prepared to do something for them. For us, when we become citizens, we need to vote. Now do you see why political parties look for numbers?
Also, as far as our outreach in the news media is concerned, you should look at this page:
http://www.immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_weblinks&catid=19&Itemid=27
We may not have made the news on CNN or on PBS, but we have gotten the word out across a wide spectrum of the news media...
RR
Yes, I obviously cannot diasgree with that logic; it is all about votes.
But, I looked at the articles that you point to above: The one in WASH POST is about illegal immigration. There is no article in NY TIMES. We need the big newspapers and PBS to discuss our issue repeatedly. Also, many of the newspapers mentioned there cater to Indian population, e.g., Times of India. Plus shusterman.com will always report about us. He is not a part of the wide spectrum of media.
This is a problem with what we are doing. The media does not know about our plight; all they know is that many of us came here on H1B.
Also, all these articles should be on a sticky thread for all to see where we have been heard.

Does anyone know recent EB2 approvals with B.Sc., B.Com degree from India (Even with M.Sc. , MBA, MCA etc). I thought they stopped approving such cases long back.

you can add your spouses before an I-485 is approved. Once its approved, then you are in trouble. These dates are current only temporarily, and retrogression ("severe" as per the bulletin) is expected again soon. So go ahead and file your I-485 right now if your PD is 'late' (2006 or so) you will probably be on EAD/AP for a while.
if your PD is 2003/2004/2005, then as soon as 485 filing is done, start looking for your life partner :)
Jesus! That looks sooo risky. Yes indeed my PD is May 06. Now the question is what if (I know a big IF), but what if, I apply for my 485 (hoping that my 485 will be on EAD/AP for a long time) BUT my 485 gets approved rather quickly and I am not able to marry before that happens -- do I have *any* way to tackle that issue? Or would it then mean that my wife cannot come in US for n number of years after marriage?!
Jesus Christ! Does anything happen without a twist?! :)

I also got email from CRIS last night stating that my I-129 has been reopened.
I have a very simple immigration history:
I-129 filed and approved April 2005, petition expires 3/30/2008; only ever worked for this same company.
No H-1B extensions ever filed, no H-1B transfers ever done, no previous history of US immigration prior to April 2005.
Labor, I-140 and I-485 were filed November 2006; I-140 approved February 2007, I-485 approved June 2007, EB2 green card arrived June 2007.
There was a LUD on the I-140, in August, but that was about the same time as a bunch of other people got LUDs on cases starting SRC07... seems like I can disregard that.
There was also a LUD on the I-129 without a status change later in August. No explanation for that was apparent.
And now I get a notice on 10/23/2007 saying that the I-129 has been re-opened and that something will happen within the next 30 days. I'll be sure to keep you all updated if I get anything like an actual I-797 notice through the mail.
Did anyone else get anything on October 23rd?
why bother about I129 if you have a GC ?

Hey,
I have Bachelor's computer's 3 years and MCA 2 years from IGNOU. I have over 7 years of Exp excluding frm my current company. Is EB2 possible in my case. My employer says its not cause of my education, can anybody let me know if they have done EB2 with this scenario. Appreciate your time. Thanks
you have the education and experience to qualify but as others have mentioned your job should also require a EB2 level of skill...then you can apply in EB2

After speaking to a few people who did an MBA and a couple of MBA consultants I think that most important parts of an MBA are the in-class experiance of working with other folks in the class and the opportunity to build a network. I seriously doubt if online MBAs can provide them.

Excellent point. It is called the Selective Service System (www.sss.gov), used when the President orders a military draft (like the ones during WW2 and Vietnam war)
You have to register (males only) if you become a Permanent Resident in the ages 18-26; otherwise you could have problems during naturalization (N-400 has a specific question for Selective Service) and securing Federal Student Aid.

Now the reports saying both parties have an eye on 2008 presidential
election so they wont do any controversial bill. Same thing was said before the midterm election. So once they after the presidential election would they again say they have to face the midterm in 2010 so no controversial bills?
Its seems like
While ( 1<2)
{
printf( "NO EB VISAS." )
}
How do we break the loop????
thanks

while( (1<2) && (we_are_not_successful))
{
print(" NO EB VISAS");
if( (Canadian_PR == TRUE) || (British_PR == TRUE) || (Australian_PR == TRUE) || \

printf("Bye Bye USA!");
break;

Date and Time of Delivery matters.
All july 2ND FILERS... DOES THE DATE OF FILING(mailing date) MATTERS OR THE DATE OF DELIVERY MATTERS?
I think most cases delivered on July 2nd is filed on June 29th or 30th.

I have talked to IMG sales rep, he said they won't cover for pre existing conditions. He also said that as far as his knowledge is concerned there is no company out there that covers pre existing conditions when I asked him about it.
My final assumption is that any insurance we buy anywhere, just covers illnesses that are developed after the coverage starts.
Any corrections??
