I have a hid device , because its class is 0x03. I use HIDManager and IOServiceMatching(kIOHIDDeviceKey), both can't find device, whether the kernel don't have matching driver, and I must write a hid device driver?
Main code:
method 1:
IOHIDManagerRef mgr;
mgr = IOHIDManagerCreate(kCFAllocatorDefault, kIOHIDOptionsTypeNone);
IOHIDManagerSetDeviceDeviceMatching(mgr, NULL);
IOHIDManagerOpen(mgr, kIOHIDOptionsTypeNone);
CFSetRef device_set = IOHIDManagerCopyDevices(mgr);
CFIndex num_devices = CFSetGetCount(device_set);
....
method 2:
io_iterator_t hidObjectIterator;
CFMutableDictionaryRef hidMatchingDict= IOServiceMatching(kIOHIDDeviceKey);
//add my device pid and vid to hidMatchingDict
.....
IOServiceGetMatchingServices(,,hidObjectIterator);
io_object_t hidDevice;
while(hidDevice = IOIteratorNext(hidObjectIterator))
{...}
As a result, hidDevice = 0;

Regenerating Nostalgia - Apple Wallpaper HD
This is a wallpaper that I did in Blender 3D as a tribute to the golden days of computing in the 80s when computers still had limited colors and sound and when they still had limited multimedia capabilities but they were starting to move very fast in that direction.
Those were the days when personal computers were starting to move into the mainstream which led to their eventual acceptance in the 90s as another household item so the pretty logo may bring back some fond memories for some people.
It's in many resolutions from 1024 x 768 all the way to 2560 x 1600 pixels in several different aspect ratios like 4:3, 16:10, 16:9, etc. and I also adapted it to 4:6 ratio IPhone format with 320 x 480 resolution and also 640 x 960 resolution. I used very little compression to preserve a higher quality. The IPhone versions were cropped from the high res render so they are not as optimal but they still look a bit good and they also have the old Apple letters logo in them.
I wanted to do something in 3D with a pseudo sci-fi theme cause I like sci-fi a lot. It was started in Blender 2.49b and finished in Blender 2.5x (about the second half of the work) and one of the reasons that I moved it to the new Blender fast was because it had a much faster renderer and I was planing to use the internal Blender renderer only and see what it could do cause it has become quite capable and one can get pretty decent results with it with a little bit of effort.
It took quite a while to render (like a day and a half) even on a i7 2.66 Ghz CPU with all 8 threads cause I rendered it in very high resolution and it uses ambient occlusion and quite a few lights with many samples. It also has some post processing in Photoshop CS4 for some glow effects and a bit of correction of color and light in some areas.
So there it is, I hope that some people from the old school of computing and/or sci-fi fans like me and others like it. You can modify it as long as it is for your own personal use.
You can download it from here:

Good. Pay your taxes amazon. Why should they not have to? If there were a federal law in place they would have no other options. No more tax breaks for corporations.

The best is to create a Wallpapers folder anywhere you want (preferably in the Images folder, situated in your User folder).
Then, just add it to the list in the preference pane (see attached pic).

When I click the search box in IE6, the submit button does highlight, but I can still type in the text field.
It might be the button:active declaration in the CSS that IE6 is hiccuping on.

When Apple changed their name from Apple Computer to just Apple it was when they cared more about iPods and iPhones than the computer.

AppCleaner will uninstall every part of a program, including the oddball things that don't get uninstalled when you drag it to the trash. And it's free.

I'm not going to place my order quite yet though - try and talk me out of it! Haha.
You might want to consider this (http://macperformanceguide.com/Reviews-SSD-Crucial256.html#PerformanceSummary):
Read and write speed is awesomely fast. But there is a hitch: the speed out of the box is a fairy tale that does not hold up with sustained use, although the ongoing speed is still superb.
The speed is actually understated when the drive is first used; fresh out of the box, the Crucial 256GB achieves a blistering-fast 215MB/sec write speed, and 267MB/sec read speed on the DiskTester fill-volume test. Those are fantastic numbers! (The fastest laptop hard drives might sustain 98MB/sec on the fastest part of the drive).
On the second and subsequent fill-volume tests, write speed declines by 17% over the initial results, settling down to a still superb 187MB/sec, about 6% below the rated speed. Furthermore, it develops a periodic stutter, which can be seen in the blue line in the graph. Read speeds drop only a smidgen, remaining above 260MB/sec.

If they haven't been purged at all in over 5 years I'd say 15gb is probably a minimum!

Basically the Mac Pro comes in two different fundamental configurations: a single CPU version and a dual CPU version. These are two different chipsets and unless you reeeally like overspending it is not wise to change this later.
Consider your needs and first of all determine if the software you'll be using can take advantage of a high number of cores. If you don't know a google or forums search can help, you can also ask about specific software here.
Once you have determined how many cores you need (or want) you can go straight to the model you need (stock or customized at the apple online store) or, if you are feeling adventurous, you can, as you are proposing, buy a single cpu or dual cpu model and upgrade it with very specific processors. If you want a dual CPU model you CAN'T mix different processors; they have to be identical. If you buy a single CPU model you CAN'T add another CPU later unless you also change the chipset, which is, as I said, very expensive.
I'd say more here about which CPUs you can upgrade to but I think you first need to determine your actual needs and your budget.

If you are into unrestricted conrol then your best bet is Unix/Linux - and OS X is a member of that family.
Windows will probably be able to run on the upcoming Intel-based Macs, although if you are planning on buying a Mac just to run Windows on it I think you need to re-examine your priorities - you'd be much better of building yourself a PC.

Hi, I'm going to be ordering a 12" PB in the next couple of weeks, whether the much rumored revisions happen or not but in would be cool if they did. This will be my first Mac and I'm very excited but I have a couple of questions:
Josh
1) What do you guys think of Bluetooth mice?
In my experience with Apple's BT mouse, I have only noticed lag when I had my BT keyboard hook up as well. Macally's mouse got great reviews, so I would recommend you go for it.
2) RAM - I'm going to max out the RAM (1.25g) so is there any advantage to the RAM Apple installs on built-to-order machines that makes it worth the $400 price tag or is this just the cost of convenience?
Simply convenience here...www.18004MEMORY.com...I bought a 1gig Corsair chip for my 1.5Ghz 12" powerbook and have had absolutely ZERO problems. Just make SURE it's guaranteed to work in your machine and you should be just fine.
3) I'm going to be doing a lot of video editing work with this computer, I know it's not the ideal machine for it but it's what I can afford and it should do the job until I can buy something better.
Any sort of laptop holder is fine. I have used the iCurve and am currently using the podiumpad (only real difference between them is height, the iCurve forces you to use an external keyboard) but besides that, you are going to be just fine. Fans wouldn't help much unless they were inside the case, but I have run Halo, the Doom 3 demo, Final Cut, InDesign, etc. without any problems. Yes, the internal fan does turn on and the powerbook gets warm, but never HOT.

I can include one Zip 100 disc with jewel case. The drive is a Zip 250 from Iomega, a nice blue plastic like the iMac G3s and in mint condition. I think it has USB and SCSI, not sure though. Make me an offer that includes shipping for the drive and disc.
Not sure if I wanna go through with it it but how does 95USD shipped sound? Also is a zip and an EZ drive the same(sorry im a dumbass)

What frequency range will the xion usb turntable sample at? 44khz, try and go for 96khz to get a better de-clicking and de-popping result (though there's some debate about this). Vinyl has better results when recording at 24bit also.
The file format is kind of mute, but I always record mine in WAV to keep a master copy, then convert later using DBPowerAmp tools (on windows).
Plus Wav is supported in iTunes so you can convert using their dubious converters within iTunes itself.
Edit: I also use Audacity as it enables you to do a lot more filters without damaging the original copy.

I suppose, but I still don't dance on mondays, tuesdays, and either friday, saturday.
5 times a week is my limit, I don't want to hurt myself or anything. :p
I don't have to worry about hitting that though. Mondays and Tuesdays are very busy days for me, and I usually pass out at the end of the day.

thanks for the thread link. i have seen the apple page, and need more info, as it only lists achievements rather than talks about them. thanks again.
What are you talking about? The first link gives an overview. The last link goes into great technical detail. You have to click the links and read more than just the first page.
